NIHR Launches its Annual Reports for 2015 and 2016

The Chairperson and members of the NIHR's Council of Commissioners were honored to meet His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, May God protect him, at Al-Safriya Palace on Wednesday 11 January 2017, where they submitted to His Majesty their two annual reports for 2015 and 2016.

His Majesty the King commended the achievements and activities covered by the two reports, at both local and international levels, which aim at human rights enhancement and development in Bahrain as well as cooperation and communication with international organizations and bodies within the framework of transparency and clarity in order to protect and stabilize human rights.

His Majesty further praised the role adopted by the NIHR's Council of Commissioners and General Secretariat as well as the NIHR's missions and responsibilities, which all aim at development and stabilization of human rights and raising community members' awareness of their rights and ensuring their freedom and independence in exercising such rights.  His Majesty further acknowledged the good reputation and international appreciation acquired by the NIHR thanks to its work which is characterized by objectivity and corresponds with Bahrain's honorable record in the field of human rights and freedoms.

His Majesty further emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain is proceeding in its constant approach towards human rights protection and everything that supports the respect of such rights in order to ensure security and tranquility of all citizens.  He further stressed the Kingdom's commitment to all international covenants and laws on human rights, which constitute an essential part of Bahrain's culture as well as its Arab identity and Islamic ideology and referred to Bahrain's distinct human rights achievements in the field of human rights, which made it a pioneer model in this field.  His Majesty wished the NIHR's Council of Commissioners Chairperson and members all success in performing their duties and national mission to protect the human rights principles in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On his part, NIHR's Chairperson of the Council of Commissioners Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul said, "We are honored today to submit the NIHR's two annual reports for 2015 and 2016 to His Majesty King of Bahrain and pleased to receive His Majesty's directives, may God grant him continuous dignity and success, to continue our approach towards the reinforcement of human rights position, and present all our observations and suggestions, which enhance the position, respect and protection of human rights in Bahrain at all civil, political, economic, social and cultural levels as well as the rights of all sections of the community.
